David M. Ring

Taylor & Ring LLP

David Ring is recognized as one of Southern California's top lawyers in plaintiffs' personal injury litigation. He has obtained many multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of seriously-injured individuals or families who lost a loved one in a tragic accident.

David also represents victims of sexual harassment, assault, abuse or misconduct in cases against employers, schools, churches, or youth organizations. He prides himself on providing aggressive yet compassionate representation for children who have been sexually abused and women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted.

David's areas of specialization include major personal injury, wrongful death, serious motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents, construction site accidents, product liability, premises liability, child sexual abuse, and employment actions involving discrimination, sexual harassment, or wrongful termination.

Some of his verdicts and settlements include: an $18.6 million jury verdict on behalf of an injured motorcycle rider; a $10.8 million jury verdict on behalf of a boy who was sexually abused by his teacher; a $4.3 million settlement on behalf of a man who suffered brain damage after being hit by a vehicle; a $2.1 million settlement on behalf of a teenage girl who was seduced into a year-long relationship with her coach; a $1.8 million verdict on behalf of a sales executive who was terminated because of his age; and a $6.8 million settlement on behalf of six boys who were sexually abused by their fourth grade teacher.

David has been repeatedly included in the prestigious Woodward & White's The Best Lawyers in America, and was also selected as one of the "Top 100" Lawyers in Southern California for four out of the past five years by Los Angeles magazine's 2007, 2008, and 2009 Super Lawyers publication.

David has been on the Board of Governors of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) since 2005, is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, and is also an active member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC). He is a frequent speaker at CAALA's annual lawyer convention and also served as one of the convention's co-chairs in 2009 and 2010.

In 2011, David will serve on CAALA's Executive Commitee, as its secretary. He will continue to be elevated to a higher position each year and will become CAALA's President in 2015. CAALA's membership is compromised of over 2000 plaintiff attorneys in Southern California.

CAALA nominated David for its "Trial Lawyer of the Year" award in 2007 and again in 2009.

David graduated "cum laude" from USC in 1987 and "Order of the Coif" (top 10% of his class) from USC Law School in 1990. He has practiced personal injury law in Los Angeles since 1991 and joined forces with John C. Taylor in 2002 to form Taylor & Ring.

Practice Areas

  • Motor vehicle accidents: We have successfully obtained large verdicts and settlements for people injured in car collisions, truck accidents or motorcycle accidents.
  • Construction/industrial accidents : Often, construction workers and laborers in industrial workplaces are allowed to bring a lawsuit against third parties other than their employer who contributed to the accident, in addition to collecting worker's compensation benefits.
  • Dangerous premises : A dangerous condition existing on a property is grounds for suing the property owner who should have fixed the dangerous condition before it caused serious injury to a visitor or customer.
  • Dangerous products/product liability : Products sometimes cause injuries because they are defective in their design or because of a manufacturing defect. Injuries caused by a dangerous product are actionable against manufacturers, suppliers and retailers of the product.
  • Nursing home neglect : Elderly people in nursing home facilities are often neglected due to understaffing, neglect and unqualified care workers. These patients can suffer debilitating bedsores, malnutrition, dehydration and other horrible conditions in the very facilities that are being paid to care for the person. These "elder abuse" injuries are actionable.
  • Catastrophic injuries: We represent people who suffered catastrophic injuries, including traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. We also represent clients in wrongful death claims. Our lawyers seek maximum compensation for those who will need life-long care and who will likely never be able to work again.

Other Areas of Law

Other practice areas we handle include:

  • Child sexual abuse : When a teacher, priest, coach or any other adult victimizes a child, it is a profound tragedy. We have extensive experience in representing children who have been sexually abused or molested. We do whatever it takes to help them on their road to recovery.
  • Employment litigation: When bosses or co-workers infringe upon other employees' ability to work by discriminating against them, sexually harassing them at work, or wrongfully terminating them for an illegal reason, often the only way to remedy the situation is through litigation. We represent employees and workers who have been treated illegally in the workplace.
  • Business disputes : We handle sophisticated business matters like breach of contract, business disputes between partners or companies, fraud, unfair business practices, and other similar types of business litigation.
