Gerry Schulze was born in Russellville, Arkansas, on March 1, 1958. His father practiced law in Russellville until 1974, when he took a job as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration. Judge Schulze worked for the Social Security Administration in Macon, Georgia; Mayagüez, Puerto Rico; New Orleans, Louisiana; and, Little Rock, Arkansas, where Gerry now lives with his family. He went to school where his family lived, with the exception of one year of law school in Fayetteville. Gerry went to the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez for his first two years of college, taking many of his classes in Spanish. He finished his college career at Loyola University in New Orleans. From there, he went to Fayetteville to begin law school, but when his father was transferred to Little Rock, he moved to Little Rock to finish law school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
In 1975, in Macon, Georgia, Gerry met Helena McGill. In 1983, shortly after Gerry graduated from law school, Gerry and Helena were married. They have two sons, Christopher and Benjamin. Christopher is a graduate of Hendrix College, and is now employed in the computer field. Benjamin graduated from Lisa Academy, a charter school in Little Rock.  He is now enrolled  in the EIT program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Gerry Schulze concentrates his practice as much as possible in the areas of legal research and writing. He is active in continuing legal education in the fields of appellate law, legal writing, insurance law, social security law, personal injury, procedure, and the law of expert witnesses.
