I started working in the forensic field at the age of 15. I specialize in forensic animation, photography/videography, image analysis, and photogrammetry. Bevan Imaging is a 3D graphics, imaging, and video solutions provider. We provide attorneys and experts with a powerful tool to help the jury understand the critical and sensitive factors contributing to an accident.

Aerial 3D Survey and Photography

We use a number of sophisticated UAVs to capture aerial photos and video of a scene. We use real photos and video of the scene in our animation to add to the realism of the animation. The photos and video are later camera matched, allowing us to integrate the 3D graphics into the scene with great accuracy.  We also use drones to capture accurate 3D surveys and orthographic maps of the site. Using an aerial drone over traditional surveying techniques reduces the time on site, while producing a more manageable output when compared to a laser scanner. This significantly reduces the cost of the survey.

Image analysis and photogrammetry
Photogrammetry is the science of making engineering measurements from images. Photogrammetry can be used to determine vehicles' point of rest, the length of a skid mark, amount of vehicle crush, a person's height, a pothole depth, or other dimensions required from a photograph or video. Velocities and accelerations can also be calculated from the surveillance video give the frame rate. Grainy or low quality photos and video can be enhanced for clarity and detail with varying degrees of success.

3D Forensic Animation
We use a combination of 3D vector (mathematical based) and 2D raster (pixel-based) graphics to create a realistic animation of an accident. Photo and video taken from a scene are camera matched and calibrated with our survey. This process allows us to integrate our 3D graphics into the scene with great accuracy and realism. If an accident site has been changed, objects removed or modified, important factors in the case such as trees, signs, telephone poles, and lane striping, and so forth can be modified in the photos and video to reflect the original site condition at the time of an incident. 3D animation can be used for understanding the critical and sensitive factors in a traffic accident, criminal investigation, medical procedure, personal injury, mechanical operation, etc.
