Gabriella Filisko

I'm an attorney who worked as a litigator at several big law firms for six years, and I had a successful career as a reporter and editor for 10 years before I became a lawyer. I'm now writing and consulting on a freelance basis on both legal and non-legal topics. I've written for Consumers Digest, the American Bar Association Journal, REALTOR Magazine, and many, many other publications. I'm frequently told my work is impressive. One legal publication's editor recently said: 'You did a great job on the story, which offered more analysis and details than the NYT [New York Times].' Another publication recently tested me on one article and asked me to write a regular column. I'm also an editorial consultant. That includes overseeing staff to ensure deadlines are met, reviewing copy for substance and accuracy, and working with production staff to move copy to publication. One of my recent projects included stepping in as outside managing editor for a monthly publication that had staff turnover and overseeing the entire editorial process until its new editors got up to speed. Another was handling the entire copy flow for a publication while the editor was on a four-month maternity leave.
