Attorney Joseph Scrofano founded Scrofano Law in 2011 after clerking for the Honorable Natlia Combs Greene in the District of Columbia Superior Court when he was appointed to the Criminal Justice Act Panel. He spent the first several years of his career representing indigent defendants navigating the DC criminal justice system. He dedicated himself to his clients and to improve his skills as a trial attorney by fighting hard on behalf of clients and attending some of the top trial advocacy training institutions in the country.
In 2013, he graduated from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyer's Colllege where he spent three weeks living on a ranch with some of the country's top criminal defense and plaintiff attorneys. He is a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association. He is also active in the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws and the National Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers.
He has received numerous awards for his outstanding advoacy and commitment to high standards of legal ethics. Since 2015, he has been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. He holds the highest rating of AV Pre-eminent from Martindale Hubbell after being peer reviewed by numerous colleagues. He has completed NHTSA Certification for the Administration and Interpretation of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to further strengthen his skills as a DUI lawyer.
As a trial attorney, he has litigated over 400 cases in the District of Columbia Superior Court. He also practices in the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
