Our Firm History The Stephens Law Firm is the progeny of one of the oldest law firms in South King County. In 1948, A.M. “Mike” Roberts opened his law practice in downtown Renton. In 1996, Rod Stephens moved the firm to Kent. By that time the firm had evolved from the small town general practice law office that Mike Roberts started to a firm that concentrated on employment law, business law and injury law. In 2007, the firm moved to Sumner, located in the heart of the Puyallup Valley, to better serve its client base which is located throughout the state. Our Community Sumner is located in the heart of the Puyallup Valley one of the fastest growing locations in Pierce County. Renowned for its spectacular views of Mt. Rainier and springtime fields of daffodils, Sumner offers the atmosphere of a small community while being located in the greater Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. Sumner is located just 30 miles south of Seattle and Bellevue, 30 miles from the state capital, Olympia, 6 miles from Tacoma and 15 miles from Sea-Tac International Airport.
