Your Benchmark Coach

I coach lawyers to help them accomplish their goals, build the practice they want and reach their professional potential. Having been a partner, a former recruiting committee chair, and a commercial litigator for 19 years in a large Detroit, Michigan firm, I understand the challenges lawyers face. I became a lawyer coach because I saw an unmet need as well as an opportunity to make a positive difference in our profession. Professional development and business coaching enables motivated lawyers to maximize their strengths and take charge of their careers. It provides a competitive advantage by helping lawyers identify and reach their goals faster and more effectively than on their own. The coaching typically takes place in a weekly thirty minute confidential telephone call. Between calls the lawyer accomplishes the agreed upon action steps, uses the learning from the calls, and moves forward in an efficient way toward the lawyer's objectives. Coaching helps great lawyers excel even more. Lawyer coaching often focuses on business development, career advancement and/or productivity. However, it is a fluid, client-centered and client-driven process, so topics for coaching are unlimited. The focus and agenda belong to the client - you! Providing an external lawyer coach helps firms recruit, develop, support, promote and retain highly sought talent. Lawyer coaching is a firm investment that results in increased revenues and greater client service and satisfaction. I have coached partners, associates, solo practitioners, inhouse counsel, legal assistants, law office administrators, litigation consultants, law students, and business owners. I have completed the core curriculum of The Coaches Training Institute ('CTI'), one of the largest coach-training organizations in the world, and am now enrolled in CTI's certification program. I graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1989, and received a B.A., with distinction, in History and English, from the University of Michigan in 1986.
