Concrete Science, Inc.
Concrete Science, Inc. is a consulting engineering firm specializing in construction materials engineering and testing. We provide services in the areas of concrete technology, nondestructive testing, repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, condition surveys and failure investigations. Our well qualified staff performs the work in a timely manner and within budget. Our clients include owners, architects, engineers and public agencies.
Evaluation of Existing Structures
Concrete Science, Inc. performs condition surveys of existing structures to determine deterioration, if any, caused by environmental, chemical and physical attacks (such as weathering or fire) or other accidents. Once the condition survey is completed, we analyze the results, assess the extent of the damage, and provide recommendations for remedial measures to extend the life of the structure. In addition, specifications are provided for the repair procedures at the client’s request. Our past projects include buildings, bridges, tunnels, water treatment plants and other structures.
Nondestructive Testing
Concrete Science, Inc. uses state-of-the-art nondestructive testing techniques such as impact-echo, radar, and impulse response. Other well established methods such as pulse velocity and pulse echo are also used on projects. We measure corrosion potential of embedded reinforcing steel using half-cell potential method and determine corrosion causing chloride ion content in the concrete. These nondestructive or semi-intrusive methods are very helpful in determining the internal condition of concrete and masonry structures.
